So this week at work has involved running around like a mad chicken trying to make sure we are ready for an event we are hosting in London tomorrow night.
I can write about what my week at work has comprised of on a Wednesday because I only work Monday – Wednesday so as my other half sarcastically says every Wednesday ‘well, that’s your week done!’
As if! My week only just begins on a Thursday and finishes when I go back to work on a Monday! Lol
Hopefully I’m all set for Thursday night – an extra bit of work, not that I’m feeling hard done by as the yummy cocktails at Jewel Bar will make up for it 🙂 but wish me luck anyway!
Although I envisaged writing this blog about my kiddie time I feel compelled to write about my day today having attended the LinkedIn RecruitIn courtesy of my relationship manager Ben Atkinson – thank you Ben 🙂
I was super excited to go as one of my fav inspirational speakers was there – James Caan. Loved him since I saw him on dragons den and my admiration has only grown (he is now an investor in an old colleagues business Ivygate estates and I love their ethos, fresh style and marketing.) As I thought he was totally down to earth and regaled us with interesting and funny stories all with morals. If you have the chance to meet him I recommend!
Should I be cheesy and wish him well with his daughters wedding in Barcelona this week? Ok then 🙂
The next sessions were built around LinkedIns ethos of Build, Engage and Recruit and I must admit to being cynical about many things in life and prior to today was extremely cynical about the amount of money LinkedIn charge for their products (still think they are a tad expensive!) however I can now say I’m converted!
The speaker from Opus Recruitment – Darren Rymill was fab talking about “how to build a business – which is brilliant”. This included comparing perception of recruitment businesses – do you want to be a Ryanair pilot – tooting music, hooray we just managed to land the plane thank god OR a BA pilot – (suave voice) yes ladies and gentlemen we have landed the plane smoothly, no probs, I’m great and will probably receive a bl**y from the air stewardess!
Ollie Sharpe from LinkedIn nearly fell off his stool! His presentation was also great centered around brand image and perception – what car would your business be? What a question…. (Or just PR bull Ollie?!! Hehe)
After that scouser Dave Google told us to be brave in our marketing and about some great tools to use to recognise influencers and how to network with each other in the social media virtual pub including Buzzsumo which I will definitely be giving a try. After lunch another great session with some fab content ideas with a great panel of companies with LinkedIn success stories – I particularly liked Cranberry Panda and Harrington Star speakers. Do you think they chose the panda name for the potential viral panda image shares? Perhaps I should of asked the question…
Anyway I won’t ramble on anymore but needless to say I really enjoyed the day. The Old Brewery was a fab venue, with a great spread for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and I’m sure drinks after would of been lush but I had to run back to see the kiddie winks before bed.
Needless to say after my extensive and unusual London travel I felt the need to ask ‘is it wine o’clock yet?’ Which thank god it was and thanks to some fizzy white Codorniu all was well with the world 🙂
